Frequently Asked Questions

Unlike batteries, which typically offer 15–30 minutes of high-rate backup, or diesel generators that rely on fuel delivery logistics, our hydrogen system is designed for long-duration backup. A single storage tank can provide standby power for 8 to 48+ hours depending on your load. You can swap or refill hydrogen cylinders to extend runtime indefinitely, similar to propane but with zero carbon emissions.

Yes. We offer low-pressure metal hydride storage or high-pressure composite tanks that are fire-rated and penetration-tested. Hydrogen is 14 times lighter than air, so in the unlikely event of a leak, it dissipates rapidly upward rather than pooling on the floor like propane or gasoline vapors. All our systems include continuous leak detection, auto-shutoff valves, and comply with international safety standards (ISO, IEC, NFPA).

No. Our backup power systems are self-contained. We deliver green hydrogen to your site, or you can use our on-site electrolysis option if you have excess renewable energy. Unlike natural gas generators that fail if the gas pipeline pressure drops during a grid outage (a common utility issue), our stored hydrogen is 100% independent of the grid or pipeline infrastructure.

Very well. While lithium-ion batteries lose significant capacity and require heating in sub-zero temperatures, hydrogen fuel cells generate heat as a byproduct. Our systems are enclosed in weather-rated cabinets with thermal management tested for -30°C to +50°C ambient conditions. The system self-heats during operation, ensuring reliable startup and performance in both cold and hot climates without the derating or cold-start issues of diesel or batteries.

While upfront CapEx for hydrogen is currently higher than a standard diesel genset, the OpEx is highly competitive and stable. You eliminate fuel theft, diesel degradation (algae/water in storage), and high maintenance costs (oil changes, particulate filters, exhaust aftertreatment). With tightening emissions regulations and carbon pricing in many regions, hydrogen backup offers a future-proof asset that avoids regulatory penalties and provides a clear ROI over a 10–15 year lifespan.

Absolutely. We act as a "range extender." Our system integrates seamlessly with standard DC bus architectures. You keep your existing lithium-ion UPS for the first 10–15 minutes of transient filtering, and our hydrogen fuel cell kicks in automatically for the long haul. We can program the switchgear to activate based on utility voltage loss or solar dip, creating a fully renewable backup solution with 99.9999% uptime.
